Using proven technology and equipment, we are able to provide our patients with the highest level of safety and efficacy in dental treatments.

Some of the technologies we incorporate into patient care include:

Digital Computer X-Rays

Compared to traditional x-ray imaging, digital computer imaging provides us with a clear view of the oral cavity while keeping our patients protected. Digital x-ray equipment emits less than 25% of the radiation put out by standard x-rays.

Using the Nomad handheld x-ray device, Dr. Christopher Naranjo increases portability and decreases scatter radiation.

Full-lead aprons with thyroid covers are used during patient x-rays, a practice we have always followed.

Carestream Intraoral Scanner

Our Carestream Intraoral Scanner allows us to capture every detail of your teeth and gums. This digital model can then be used for the fabrication of Invisalign/ClearCorrect orthodontic aligners and help with any surgical planning. Digital models also help eliminate the waste of any materials.

Digital Photographs

Data gathering is an important step that requires the right tools. We use digital photography to collect the highest quality images of patients’ dentition. The resulting images are free of pixelation and distortion, which makes them easy to read and share with our patients.

Treatment technologies include:

  • High-speed hand-piece with four water ports to keep teeth cool throughout treatment.
  • Electrosurge (laser-like) cauterizing tool is used for gum recontouring and other cosmetic and restorative procedures.

Fotona LightWalker is leading-edge laser dentistry

Dr. Naranjo is deeply committed to providing patients with the advantages and advances in dental technologies and techniques. His investment in instrumentation and training with the Fotona LightWalker dual dental laser system is an excellent example.

This device contains the two types of lasers (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG) most useful in dentistry, in one convenient, portable workstation. Either wavelength may be used alone, or they can be combined with the proprietary TwinLight treatment concept for maximum efficiency in cases that involve hard and soft tissue treatment.

Laser dentistry greatly reduces trauma, and the procedure is quick and precise. There is less noise than a dental drill, with very little heat, vibration, or discomfort. Since laser treatment automatically disinfects and cauterizes, there is reduced risk of bleeding or complications, and the site heals faster. In fact, when surgically treating cavitations, a dentist can not properly disinfect the bone when using drills alone…a laser must be used to properly clean out all infection.

Dr. Naranjo uses the Fotona system for a wide variety of preventive, restorative, and aesthetic procedures. You can learn more about them on the Laser Dentistry page of this website (under the Services tab). Or call (512) 472-3565 to schedule an appointment at Greenbelt Dental Health in Austin, TX, to find out how the Fotona laser brings dentistry into the 21st century.
